You’re Invited! Come and celebrate Christmas at Alongside You! There will be opportunities to draw pictures of Santa, a letter-writing station for those who want to catch up on their snail mail, and even a games room for those who want play a game of Scrabble or two. We will also have a quieter cozy spot where people can read beautifully illustrated Christmas books that have been collected over the years.
Most importantly, this party is all about giving and about those who need it the most. This year, we will be supporting the Group Respite -TEENSS Program at Reach Child and Youth Development here in Delta. You will be able to donate using cash, cheque, or credit card.
Gift cards to Alongside You will also be available and can be redeemed for any of our services or products. 10% of the proceeds from all gift certificates sold at the event will be donated directly to Reach Child and Youth Development in support of their Group Respite – TEENSS Program.
There will be holiday tunes, yummy treats and hot apple cider, and creative crafts for all ages! We hope to see you there!
What is the Group Respite – TEENSS Program at Reach Child and Youth?
The primary goal of the Reach Group Respite – TEENSS Program is to give parents of youth ages 13-19 with special needs a much needed break. The group was formed in 2008 when it became apparent that there was a need for programming for youth who didn’t fit into the Ministry category. It is a completely fund-raised program where a group of teens do activities at Reach and in the community. The participating teens are so enthusiastic to be ‘out and about’. As it is provided in a ‘group’ format, the program also provides the youth with opportunities to build friendships, strengthen social skills, become more aware of their community, learn life skills as they grow up, and best of all, have lots of fun and be themselves without being judged!
Through your generosity, we hope to provide the program with increased funding, as well as help defray costs for families and reduce their financial burden and stress.
