Office Manager, Neurofeedback Technician

When and why did you join Alongside You?

In the Fall of 2017 I joined the Alongside You team as an administrative assistant, and now work as the office manager and a certified neurofeedback technician.

I knew I wanted to join up with Alongside You as soon as I learned about the sliding scale fees and Step Forward Program. A family-run company that emphasizes access and quality care for everyone, regardless of their financial situation – five minutes into researching this company, I knew I wanted to join in.

What is your day-to-day role at Alongside You?

I cover a range of roles in my day-to-day here. Between reception, managing the office and running neurofeedback sessions for clients, I’m kept pretty busy!

What skills do you need for your role at Alongside You?

Organization is a helpful skill, but more important than that is warmth, the ability to connect, and an empathetic ear.

What do you love the most about Alongside You?

I don’t think I could have found a more caring, affirming, generous, and fun team of people to work with if I tried. This is a special place, and I’m very grateful to be along for the ride.

What would you be doing if you did not pursue the career path you have right now?

In another life, I think I would enjoy being a National Geographic photojournalist. Getting paid to travel and photograph seems pretty dreamy to me.

How do you relax when you are outside of work?

I am happiest in the forest, by the ocean, or on a mountain with my camera in hand. (Throw a golden retriever in there and that would be just about perfect.)

What do you consider the most important value?

For me, everything seems to come back to connection. Learning to understand others and hear their stories is a real privilege.

What kind of organizations/networks/communities are you connected/associated with?

I’ve been volunteering with Anvil Island summer camps for over a decade now and consider it my second home. Where else could you have a 150+ person family, giant food fights, mystery food challenges and Santa arriving at camp via helicopter?
