About Fiona

I decided to become a counsellor after working in support of victims of crime, and survivors of childhood abuse. This taught me that we all cope the best we can in the moment, and sometimes we need help to discover different coping mechanisms which will serve us better.

Having raised my own neurodivergent children, I realized that the journey to adulthood is even harder now than it was when I travelled it (long ago, in a land far away).

As an integrative therapist, I utilize a number of different counselling modalities, including Narrative Therapy, IFS, and DBT, all from a person-centred and strengths-based perspective.

My goal is to become a counsellor who can walk beside you on your journey. I love my family, science fiction, musical theatre, dogs, being in or near water, and baking. I also love learning from my clients.

When and why did Fiona join Alongside You?

I joined Alongside You in May 2023, as a counselling intern. It was important for me to work in Delta if possible, as I wanted to give back to the community which has welcomed and supported me and my family. I admire the practice which Meg and Andrew have built, and the concept of integrative wellness which it encompasses.

How do you relax when you are outside of work?

I enjoy baking when I get the chance. I love to be in or near the water. I spend a lot of time with my family and I have recently become very enthusiastic about LEGO projects.

What would you be doing if you did not pursue the career path you have right now?

My preference would be xenolinguist or dragon-trainer.

What do you consider the most important value?

Love, because all the other good ones come from that.
