Administrative Assistant
When and why did you join Alongside You?
I recently joined the Alongside You team as an administrative assistant, and I’m particularly excited about working within an integrated health clinic that emphasizes access and care for everyone.
What is your day-to-day role at Alongside You?
My day-to-day role is to administratively support the clinic and to help make it as welcoming and comfortable as possible for you!
What skills do you need for your role at Alongside You?
Warmth, connection, organization and an empathetic ear.
What do you love the most about Alongside You?
I particularly love the sliding fee system, so that anyone can come and get help overcoming their difficulties. I’m also a big fan of the art studio, because art has been healing and transformative in my own life. I also really enjoy how much thought has gone into the feel of each room!
What would you be doing if you did not pursue the career path you have right now?
In another life I think I would enjoy being a National Geographic photojournalist. Getting paid to travel and photograph seems pretty dreamy.
How do you relax when you are outside of work?
I like to relax through art and photography. One of my favourite projects is to make small paintings and leave them in public places for strangers to take home. I leave my contact information and I always love hearing where they end up.
What do you consider the most important value?
Definitely connection! To me everything always seems to point back to connection.
What kind of organizations/networks/communities are you connected/associated with?
I’ve been volunteering with Anvil Island camps for the past ten years and consider it my second home. I recently started volunteering at an art studio on the Downtown Eastside called Creative Life, and have been loving it there too.
