About Katie
I have always been interested in helping others, and have found this to be a consistent theme in my life around supporting others. Counselling has been foundational in my personal mental health experiences, helping to promote change and move me through struggles, while learning to cope in different ways – something I hope to do for my clients as well. I am grateful for the opportunity to sit with clients and hear their stories. I am inspired by the courage and resiliency each of my clients demonstrate in sessions and in their lives. To me, one of the most important pieces of the counselling journey is providing feedback to ensure the client is making the best use of our time together. I enjoy offering a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to share their stories and feel heard, often for the first time.
I started working for Alongside You in September of 2021 on the client care team while I was been working on my Master’s degree in counselling psychology and knew this would be a good experience for me to understand the profession. I successfully completed the internship program here and am excited to join the team as a counsellor!
What would you be doing if you did not pursue the career path you have right now?
If I did not pursue counselling, I think I would love to do something with travelling – preferably just relaxing and enjoying the sites.
How do you relax when you are outside of work?
I spend time with loved ones, whether we are just visiting, enjoying music together, or watching a TV show or movie. I also enjoy spending time with my partner and our two cats at home.
