About Drew

I have always been interested in learning about the people that I meet. I have a deep curiosity about people’s passions, dreams, and struggles. My own journey began 10 years ago in early childhood education. I have spent those years working with young children and most recently, as an infant development consultant; in this role, I support families when there are questions or concerns about their child’s development. I have experience working with children (and their ‘big people!’) in areas such as behaviour, attachment, developmental differences, and parent support.

I am drawn to questions like ‘what happened to you?’ instead of ‘what is wrong with you?’ I enter counselling with a curiosity about a person’s story and experiences and seek to understand why a person might be feeling or acting in certain ways. I am immensely interested in how trauma effects the mind, body, nervous system, and relationships. I believe that your story matters and that the stories that we tell ourselves shape our past, present, and future. I look forward to joining you in your story.

When and why did Drew join Alongside You?

I joined Alongside You in September 2021 as a practicum intern. I am a new South Delta resident and look forward to learning more about the community!

What does Drew consider to be the most important value?

That is such a hard question! A few that stand out to me are love, compassion, and empathy. While they have different meanings, they all speak about what it means to in relationship with ourselves and others.

What would Drew be doing if she did not pursue the career path she has right now?

I love working with children and families so I would continue to work in that area. If I were to completely change career paths, I would tap into my creative side and do something like floral arranging!

How does Drew relax when she is outside of work?

Since moving to Tsawwassen, I have been enjoying exploring the beach and trails. I love a good book, games night in and spending time with family and friends.
